Entirely possible. Your 4200 was released Sept 2013, so it's approaching 9 years old and uses completely different hardware from newer players. Even the newer version of the Roku 3 was released seven years ago. It gets difficult supporting multiple types of hardware with the same operating system. That's why Microsoft and Apple both drop support for older versions of their OS after a period of time. It's too hard to maintain so many versions.
Well if Roku does make the Roku 3 obsolete, they better figure out a way to back out the Software 11 that made it obsolete, so we still have a usable device, and prevent it from being automatically updated again !
They should actually make this a system option so we can go back if the new release is buggy.
I hate automatic system updates... at least with computers, you can restore to a previous update and continue using your computer.
Don't get me wrong... I love my two Roku 3 boxes... I like their portability... I use one even with my one smart TV.... if I had to I would buy a new and improved version... as long as it will work with any TV.

I second the motion. Obsoleting peoples' working hardware to force them to upgrade Will Not Fly! :smileymad:
If Roku is going to do that, I may as well go back to Cable - Or take my chances with an Amazon Fire Stick!
