Why doesn’t the Roku Max app have any viewing controls?!
when re watching previously watched episodes, there is no “play from beginning” option or “Start over” you literally have to hold down the back button and wait for it to scroll all the way back to the beginning!
very very annoying! And if you make the mistake of hitting the return button, it usually has no idea what episode you were watching!

Most channels on the Roku platform are design, built, and managed by the channel provider themselves, and they'll be able to provide you with a workaround to address your concern, or develop an update with their app.

Re: Max app needs improvements.
You'd have to ask HBO/Max. Roku has absolutely nothing to do with their app.
