Hi, I have a Reolink NVR (model RLN8-410-E) with 4 cameras (model RLC-420-5mp) and want to stream to my Roku. I bought the Pro version of the app and would like to know how to configure it. I tried several configurations using the app help section and all failed. I appreciate the help.

The application only supports jpeg encoded streams, so make sure your cameras provide the necessary stream. You can contact the camera manufacturer to see what the URL for the mjpeg stream is. If the cameras only support h264 streams, you can use the snapshot url to get images from the cameras, or you can use the h264 stream, but this requires extra hardware, please see here: https://github.com/e1ioan/rokuphp
Sorry I can't help with support for specific cameras, I don't own any Reolink cameras.

The version 5.0 of the application was submitted to the channel store.
New features:
- The new version can be configured to start directly to a specific camera or split screen
- Split screen was added to the screen saver
- Support for External Control Protocol (ECP) to start directly to the camera view you'll like
- Backup will save and restore all the settings of the application, not just the cameras
What can ECP be used for with the application? Making a video doorbell that turns your tv on, to the camera you want, for example. Make sure the read the help for more information.

Cheeroip The application only works with jpeg encoded rtsp streams and those almost always are available by configuring the camera using ONVIF. If after ONVIF configuration you do not have the option to select a RTSP stream, that means that your camera only provides h264 streams. To make it work with h264 rtsp, see here (you'll need extra hardware):

The new Roku Smart Home cameras can be viewed through your Roku devices and RokuTVs. During setup of the cameras with the SmartHome app, you can install the Roku Smart Home - Cameras channel.
Allows you to view Livestreams only currently.

I have been using IP Camera Viewer - Pro for about 9 months now with my Lorex NVR.
It generally works well but whenever there is significant motion on the screen the video repeats over and over again. Like someone walking on my front walk would step 1, 2, 3 and the video would jump back to step 1, 2, 3, repeating again and again for like 10 seconds. And then the video will pick up to current, missing whatever happened for the past 10 seconds.
If I watch the video in Firefox (which can natively view the same mpeg stream URL) or the PC app provided by Lorex using the same substream at the same time, it is only IP Camera Viewer on the roku that's stuttering like this.
Any ideas what's going on here? - ioan6 years agoRoku Guru

Any ideas what's going on here?I never used Lorex NVR so I'm not very familiar with the system. I test my releases on several major camera brands (Axis, Dahua, Hikvision, Amcrest, D-Link, Panasonic) and I've never seen that problem and this is first time this issue was reported to me.
Can it be that the NVR is configured to record when detecting movement? Is it possible to disable the motion detection, just for testing and then see if you have the same problem? Also, please check if the motion detection is enabled in the IP Camera Viewer.
Please let me know what you find.

Thank you, the ECP control is awesome!!!!
Also, the split screen in the screen saver was a nice surprise, I like it!

Yes I have motion detection for this camera enabled in the NVR and sure enough if I disable it the problem goes away! I did 5+ tests enabled (all produced badly repeating video) and 5+ tests disabled (no repeating).
So, what does this mean? Like I said, Firefox and the Lorex PC software don't have the repeating issue, so that tells me it's not the video content in the stream that's repeating. I can only assume there is some metadata or frame numbering that IP Camera Viewer is interpreting differently. But what do you think?
If you want me to somehow capture a suspect stream with some tool (can I?) and send it your way, I'll gladly assist.
Thanks so much for thinking about this! - DarrylB836 years agoNewbie
Hello,
I have struggled to get a connection to a Reolink 520 camera. Works fine on my android camera app, and in my HomeAssistant. I have learned that HomeAssistant can provide a streaming link through motionEye. Have you had any experience configuring with motionEye acting as a "nvr"? It can support streaming, which should provide the jpg images you require for Roku, assuming Reolink cant natively function in this capacity...Thanks. - RB0075 years agoReel Rookie
Is there a setting for a FOSCAM HT2? I have mirrored my F2C with correct settings for my HT2 but it doesn’t connect!

Excellent work man.
I had to dig a lot to find the application though:

The configuration is awful though 🙂
Did you consider to just publish different versions preconfigured for each model?
That would be much easier to market around and simplify a lot more the user flow.

Did you manage to get RSTP works?
Now that Roku have embraced Wyze hardware is just matter of time before somebody will enable RSTP on those camera too.
I can't believe Roku got into HomeAutomation and ignored completely the integration with RokuTV and boxes...🤔
I wasn't able to configure my wyze/RSTP camera:rtsp://admin:Password@192.168.1.148/live
Any idea?
- Cheeroip3 years agoBinge Watcher
Yeah, I'm not going to do any of that 🙂
I don't have any idea about what are you talking about:ONVIF? H264? companies don't usually share those specifications.
Wyze Camera have RTSP.
Roku Home Automation use Wyze camera (well, at least same hardware and the Roku App look exactly like the Wyze app so I guess they have some kind of partnership).
Let me know if you or somebody else is able to connect those and how configure them.
Those are $30 cam. Seem would be a great market to tag for your app (even without considering that could potentially be the only way to watch Roku cam on a Roku TV LOL)... - Cheeroip3 years agoBinge Watcher
Excellent.
https://www.roku.com/mobile-app/smart-home
The website didn't mention any integration with ROKU stuff and I couldn't find the app on the box (the search isn't exactly the best feature of the UI experience).
I wonder what is the problem with the IPCameraViewer app and RSTP. I think the same developer have the app running on the FireTV and there the RSTP is supported.I don't think the official ROKU app on the box will support local access to the Camera like this app would have be.
I'm surprise they decided to go with a separated camera ROKU OS app instead of trying to keep the whole Home Automation thing together (plugs/lights/webcam)
I guess somebody up the chain of command rushed the Wyze deal and now they just have to deal with it.
I doubt they will support (if they are even aware that exist) the RSTP firmware. - Cheeroip3 years agoBinge Watcher
THE IPCAMERA VIEWER could take some inspiration from it and use the QRCODE approach to configure the application (using ECP commands instead of the whole cloud/server thing)
