I have a “Onn” brand Roku tv

But on my Hulu app it only shows Dark Grey background with Black text for subtitles. Impossible to read. Even when I change the main tv settings to black font on yellow background Hulu still does black on dark grey. I can’t find a solution on: Hulu, Roku, Onn, Reddit. Please help.

Have you tried this section on the Hulu support page regarding changing the "format" of closed-captioning.

Refer to the "living room" devices.  These are streaming devices like Roku.

Looks like you can change them from within the Hulu channel/app under their own Settings/Subtitles and Captions.

Has been awhile since I had an active Hulu subscription though, so can;t remember, nor check. (awaiting new season of Only Murders in the Building before considering a renewal).
