Channels logging out or play show for 30 or so seconds then it disappears.

My Roku channels, even even Peacock YouTube, Prime Video, etc. have been logging me out or play for 30 seconds and black out. I did a factory reset and it’s still happening. My wi-fi connection is fine. What can it be?

@andimae-

If you are powering your Roku by plugging into the USB port on the TV, try powering from house power via the USB power adapter that came with the Roku*.

The ports on many televisions only supply 0.5 amp or less, which is not enough to power a Roku reliably. It may appear to start up okay, but when it runs into something that requires more power than the tv's USB port can provide, something's got to give. Frequently this results in shutting down the stream you are viewing and exiting back to the Roku home screen. Or it may cause your Roku to overheat.

If this is a new problem, possibly an update to either the Roku operating software or to some channel app software is using a little more power than in the past. If you were just barely scraping by before, this might push you over the edge.

*If your Roku didn't come with a USB adapter, or if you don't have a Roku adapter handy, any other USB power adapter you have from another device should work as long as the fine print on it says it outputs at least 1 amp.

I have the original USB cable connected to Roku and the house. After a while it will even flash “check internet connection”. Which I already know is fine. Is Roku junk?

Re: The Peacock channels do have sound, but there is no picture.

The Peacock channels are blacked out.  There is sound but no picture.

There is no problem with the movies and series.

We have the Premium membership.

What's wrong?  Why can't we get a picture on the Peacock channels?

Hi @lassielou,

Thanks for reaching out to us here in the Roku Community!

We'd love to assist you with this playback issue going on with the Peacock channel. I take this to mean that there is a problem with Peacock Live TV?

In addition, could you tell us what troubleshooting steps you have tried so far to resolve this?

Please keep us posted!

Thanks,

Rey
