You need to provide some additional information. What model Roku do you have? How is it connected to the network (some have Ethernet, all are WiFi capable)? What Roku OS version is your Roku on?
Dan, thank you for your reply. I don’t know what model I have but it’s old. 2016. I’m connected to ATT Air. And sorry I don’t know what operating system my Roku uses.
After about 5 minutes the screen says Max is not available in my area. I’ve had Max for 2 years until 4 days ago.
Dan, Roku has a 3 on top. Model 4200x

Thanks for that. The 4200 was released Mar 2013, so it's now over 11 years old. While I don't think the error message is accurate (about being not available) it's entirely possible HBO has dropped support for that old of a player. I just tried MAX on my Ultra 4800, which is now four years old, and it's working fine.
It's also possible your Internet provider has done something with your connection to the Internet that is making the MAX servers think you're somewhere you are not. I'm also assuming you are not using a VPN on your home network, as that too could cause a mis-location.
Whatever your public IP address is, that's what services use to determine where you are located. I can provide an example: I work for the federal government (for two more weeks, then retirement!) and when I'm on our internal network our Internet access is through a connection in Oklahoma. So it doesn't matter that I'm in Seattle, or when I travel somewhere else, my Internet connection always puts me in OK, which makes for some odd advertisements on web pages. Just to confirm where the Internet thinks you are located, you can use this web site to see. https://whatismyipaddress.com/
Dan, really appreciate your time and help. The IP address is private home network. The search site couldn’t identify geographical location. Going to try calling ATT, although it’s a nightmare to try to talk to someone.
Also I need to buy a new Roku, been planning to for awhile anyway. I’ll let you know what happens and as always appreciate you taking the time to reply to my problem. Don in Ky
Strange, it shouldn't be reporting on your private IP address, only what is visible on the Internet itself. Perhaps that is the issue: your ISP is for some reason showing an invalid IP address to the Internet. Since you're using AT&T, and I'm assuming it's a cellular and not hard-wired connection, there's no telling what they might be doing on the public side of the network. When you call them, be sure to let them know what the IP identification web site is saying about your public IP. That might help them track down the issue on their end.
