Broadcast TV scanning unavailable

I've got a Samsung TV and I just put up a 3.0 antenna, previously using roku streaming stick doesn't allow broadcast scanning it's in Gray and cannot be selected? Why are we told to buy an antenna to view local channels along with roku? After I pulled it out was able to scan and view local channels up to 66, what is wrong is not something that can be used together?

Re: Broadcast TV scanning unavailable

Only Roku TVs can receive broadcast channels.  You don't use other Roku devices to watch broadcast TV (unless you have something like Tablo TV).  A Roku device is more like a DVD or Blu-ray player - you switch your TV's input to the Roku device to watch streaming content and switch back to your TV to watch broadcast channels.
