Outdoor camera se base station will not stay connected to internet

Jump to solution

Outdoor base station will connect to the internet temporarily and then disconnect. It will not reconnect even though hard wired. The router and the port the station is plugged into work with other devices. The station itself will not stay connected. The light stays a solid yellow after it disconnects.

Hello! @Mazdamike,

Thanks for posting here in the Roku Community!

We appreciate you reaching out to us about your Outdoor Camera Base Station connectivity issue. We're pleased to assist.

 Troubleshooting:

  1. Make sure thatyou have the latest version of the Roku Home app installed.
  2. Please power cycle the Roku Base Station by unplugging it for 5 minutes and then plugging it back in.
  3. Try plugging the base station into a different power outlet.
  4. Try plugging the base station into a different ethernet port.
    • If you have a mesh network, trying with a different access point is worthwhile.
  5. Try using a different ethernet cable with the base station if you have one available.
  6. Perform a soft reset, followed by setting up the base station again as a new device. Holding down the Sync button until the status light turns solid yellow will initiate the soft reset.
    • Once the light begins flashing again, it will eventually transition back to solid blue.
    • At this point, it can be set up again.

If you're unable to set it up again, please follow these steps.

  1. Make sure that you have the latest version of the Roku Smart Home app installed.
  2. Please disable any VPN the user may have enabled on their network or phone.
  3. Make sure the Roku Base Station is plugged into either the primary router or modem for setup.
    • If the user has a mesh network and wants to use one of the access points, try using the primary router or modem just for setup since it can always be moved after.
  4. If you have an iOS device (iPhone, iPad) make sure you have the Local Network permission enabled for the Roku Smart Home app.
    • To adjust this permission: Settings > Privacy > Local Network > Enable for Roku Smart Home app
  5. Ensure location permissions are turned on for Roku.
  6. Make sure that your phone/tablet is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
    • Your phone/tablet must be connected to the same network the base station is going to be connected to.
    • Roku Smart Home devices are not compatible with 5GHz Wi-Fi networks.
  7. Make sure the status light transitions to solid blue

Please keep us updated on your progress so we can continue to assist you further. We look forward to hearing back from you.

Thanks,
Arjiemar

@Mazdamike,

Thanks for the update,

Please check the signal strength between the camera and the base station.

  • In the Roku Smart Home app, tap on the paired base station.
  • A full signal is 3 bars. If your signal is only 1 bar, try moving the camera closer to the base station.

Perform network troubleshooting steps. If you need further assistance, please contact your internet provider.

If the issue persists please reply back here along with the information below.

  • Log ID: From the camera, go to settings gear > support > submit log
  • DID/MAC:
  • Roku Model:

We'll be looking forward to your update!

Thanks,

The problem is still the base station not connecting to the internet when plugged directly into a working port on the router/modem.
