Uneven Volume Increments on Hisense Roku TV

I ordered a 43”, 1080p Hisense Roku TV on Boxing Day 2021, and have been using it for a few months. However, I’ll really annoyed by how the jump in volume between levels 9 and 10 is a much larger gap than between any other levels. The TV is in my bedroom, and level 9 isn’t loud enough to be heard from bed, but 10 is obnoxiously loud. It’s a much wider gap and is very frustrating when having to choose between not hearing the show or it waking up the whole house.

Anyone have this issue? The audio settings are limited so I don’t know what else to try.

  • Roku does not make the TV. Hisense does. But there is a feature in the Roku OS called "volume leveling". While watching something press the * button on the remote. Go to sound and turn on volume leveling. This will even out loud voices and soft voices or sounds.

Just checked this, and it isn’t an option. The only sound settings available are sound mode, DTS TruSurround and Dialog Clarity. It is a Hisense TV but I feel like volume increments being larger than others would be a software issue, and the Roku OS seems to be limited on this TV in terms of sound settings

The option should be there. I have a TCL Roku TV. 2 of them. The option is there. Start watching something. Like a movie on Disney+ or another channel. While watching it press the * button. Move the cursor down. It’s there. All Roku TV models have this option. Says is in the link I sent. If somehow the option is not there there isn’t much more you can do besides by external speaks such as the Roku Wireless Speakers

  • I have the exact same issue. 9 is not loud enough and 10 is overdoing it. Have you figured out how to fix it?

daniluna nope, never found a solution. And most of the menu options discussed in this thread aren't available! Do you have a Hisense Roku or another brand or TV?

J-Money463  Different TV manufacturers offer different options. That’s why there are different builds of Roku OS. I own 3 TCL Roku TV’s. All 3 of them have volume leveling control when I push the * button. If your Hisense does not offer that option there isn’t much you can do about it. Unfortunately.

Same issue with Hisense Roku TV: gigantic change in volume between level 9 and level 10.

  • Are you using a separate speaker? The option should be there. I've a TCL Roku TV. 2 of them. The option is there. Start watching commodity. Like a movie on Disney or another channel. While watching it press the * button. What do you see when you press the * on the remote. You should have tons of options.

  • I have a 43 inch Hisense Roku TV too and I am having the exact same problem. Weirdly enough, that's when the volume levels spike for me too, from 9 to 10 and it's a pretty significant spike too. It's very noticeable and annoying at night. I stay up later then everyone else in the house.

I just had to buy another Hisense Roku TV because my last one suddenly died after a year for no apparent reason. The last one (which was the exact same model and dimension) did not have that problem and I am truly regretting buying this TV again..

It's not just that though, I feel like it's lacking compared to my last tv with picture quality too. Unfortunately I need a Roku TV or something like it because I do not have a cable outlet in my room.

Iv tried looking online to fix it, but unless you have external speakers you can't use the leveling settings and I have tried adjusting the minor setting the tv has but I can't seem to fix the problem.

Our 43' Hisense does not have those sound options unless you have external audio. It has nothing to do with Canada and researching TV's in hindsight doesn't do anything to help the problem.. I would say someone from "Roku" or "Hisense" should get on this but from my experiences with them, unless you need a step by step on how to unplug your TV for 10 seconds then your pretty much out of luck there..

This will be the last Hisense purchase, that's for sure..

From what I read here the complaint about even increments and decrements in volume is not just with Hisense, but also with TCL and Sharp.  I suspect it's faulty Roku logic.  Roku support suggested I get back in touch with Hisense after Hisense had sent me to Roku.  I asked Roku support to get a statement from a Roku engineer that the issue was with Hisense.  I received no response to that request.

  • The uneven increments is my problem also.  9 not enough but 10 to much.  Are there half increments?

They JUST fixed this as of 5/14/22. I just got a Roku Hisense 43 inch back in march and my volume between 9 and 10 was doing the same. I went out of town and came back on the 16th and my i noticed my volume was magically fixed, i checked updates, and it updated 2 days prior so hopefully yours is fixed too.

I’ve actually been meaning to come back to this thread… I had the same fix a couple days ago! It’s like having a totally new TV! Got to say, I was NOT expecting this update but I’m super happy about it!
