Unable to pair Roku Voice Remote

Hello

I recently bought a roku replacement remote for my 4660x2 on amazon - Unless its the wrong remote, it does not work and does not have a physical pairing button. I'm told the newer smaller remotes are supposed to automatically work? Is it necessary to hold the BACK button and Play button simultaneously to program it? Or do I have the wrong replacement?

Thank You

With REPEATING the instructions over and over, (and without a reasonble explanation), I finally got the new remote to work. However, (to tell you the truth), the end result also produces momentary flashes of Blue Screen which never happened before. Without completely deleting RESETTING, (which will definitely trash all your channels), I do believe its just something one has to live with.

Assuming it's a voice remote without a pairing button, press and hold the Back and Home buttons (the two buttons next to each other below the power button) for about 5 seconds until the light starts flashing.  Once it starts flashing, if you don't have a working remote, unplug the power to the Roku device briefly to get it to reboot.  It should pair once it starts up.

  • My apologies renojim (thanx for the reply). Was unable to attach a simple jpg nor a link showing the actual item description. (got continual error messages). First off, this was not the preferred remote, (my error). Yes I have several older Ultras 4660x2. And yes, I'd prefer the voice command option. I've read some of them are supposed to work straight off (no pairing or programming necessary)? Would THIS be a better option? Thank You So Much!

Pretty much any remote made in the last 10 years and certainly any current remote should work with your 4660.  The voice remotes have to be paired, although they can also work as simple remotes until they're paired.  The simple remotes work right out of the box, but they have to have a clear line of sight to the Roku device.

The one you linked to will certainly work, but I think it's cheaper directly from Roku (I don't know about shipping, though).

  • Thank you again renojim, and Tivoburkee ...

Unfortunately this usually simple pairing process seems to have turned into a Nightmare ... I replaced the roko remote with the SAME Identical Model. Predictably, these built-in batteries eventually FAIL and the remote will have to be replace; (I got approx. 3 years out of the last one). Have NOT been able to successfully complete Pairing with new one. It stubbornly will not co-operate. Is there an option to DELETE any/all previous remote devices? I can't find that option.  And BTW, I'd prefer to have External BATTERIES (without depending on the darn power adapter).  Does anyone know of a roku voice command remote that takes EXTERNAL batteries? If I can't get this to work, I'll send it back to Amazon and unfortunately get stuck buying a cheaper Non-Voice command style?

Thanks for al your help ...
