Unable to control the Roku device with the Samsung TV remote

I am looking to phase out my appletv and I have a roku I never use which was a gift I received. Right now my only hang up is my samsung smart tv remote (smart remote) doesn’t appaear to work with Roku. With my appletv my samsung remote works seamlessly but I can’t use the voice command on the remote for appletv only with the tv. Is my roku too dated or is this not a standard function of the Roku? This will be a dealbreaker if it’s not.

    Sorry but only way for non-Roku remote like your Samsung tv remote to control the Roku is by IR. Your tv remote would have to programmable and have code for Roku. Other streaming devices allow remotes like tv remotes to control it by cec, but in case Roku's that doesn't work.

    We understand that you're trying to navigate the Roku device with your Samsung remote. Just a heads up, Roku devices were designed to work only with Roku Remotes. Also, what Roku device model do you have? If it came with the Roku voice remote included in the box, which has a microphone button, you can navigate it with voice commands.
