Stuck on Setup: Factory reset LG roku tv without original remote

I was gifted a LG Roku Tv without a remote. I bought a Roku remote and paired it and I was able to use it to factory reset the TV. After resetting the remote is not working. Now I am stuck on the ‘choose a language’ screen, because I need to pair my remote and none of the buttons on the tv are allowing me to advance through the set up. My remote will not pair while I am on this screen. (The tv will turn on and off with the remote and it was fully functioning before tv reset)

    Try pairing the remote again.  Unplug the TV, press and hold the pairing button until the light starts flashing, plug in and turn on the TV.
