Roku TV won’t connect to DirecTV set-top box anymore

All of a sudden, my Westinghouse Roku TV cannot connect to my DirecTV cable box. I tried another DirecTV box and got the same result, so the issue must be with the Roku TV. Any ideas?

    Greetings from the Roku Community!

    If you want to watch cable or satellite programming on your Roku TV and you already subscribe to a service, you will need to connect the cable or satellite receiver to your Roku TV.

    1. Turn off both your Roku TV and cable or satellite receiver
    2. Connect the HDMI cable from your cable or satellite receiver to an available HDMI port on the back of your Roku TV
    3. Power on your cable box and Roku TV
    4. Use the directional pad on your Roku remote to select the HDMI input where you connected your receiver

If you want to watch cable or satellite programming on your Roku TV and you already subscribe to a service, you will need to connect the cable or satellite receiver to your Roku TV.

  1. Turn off both your Roku TV and cable or satellite receiver

    Yes, that worked when I first set the satellite box up a few years ago. I did try to delete it and set it up again, but got the same result. I have heard Roku is trying to have an advertisement appear before allowing access to a peripheral device. Could that be causing the interference?

      Please be aware that the advertisement won't interfere with the cable connected to your Roku TV.

      • Note: Many cable TV systems scramble their signals and require a set-top box to view the signals on a TV. Consult with your cable company to determine if they have “in the clear” signals on your cable that will work on a standard TV RF input.

        That’s not the problem. I’m using the set-top box. The Roku TV no longer recognizes the signal from the box.
