Roku stuck on start up screen
My Roku express is stuck on the purple screen/bouncing logo. I have tried: unplugging the roku, different hdmi port, different tv, factory reset. Nothing works. please help
Try using a USB power adapter (cell phone wall charging adapter 5volt, 1 amp) plugged into the wall instead of your TV USB port if currently doing so.
I am plugged into wall (saw that suggested somewhere else).
Have you tried a different power adapter?
I had my older Premiere+ 3921 get stuck on the bouncing ball a few months ago and it took about 4 or 5 attempts at a Factory Reset to get it unstuck. (press and hold for 30+ seconds).
Yes I tried using a different usb power adapter and tried factory reset several times.
I’ve read all the threads on this topic (there are many, which tells me this is a roku problem, not a me problem) and have tried all the suggestions multiple times.
Unfortunately, these Roku devices are just little chip-based computer devices. When they fail to boot, they have just encountered some critical error. (software or hardware).
The only troubleshooting available for the end user is...
--------
Unless the Roku device is still under warranty (30 days for refund or 1 year for free replacement), the user is really only left with the option of purchasing a new device. Login to your online dashboard at https://my.roku.com/account and look under the "Streaming Store" for 'Product Offers'. (may have an offer there to upgrade your device at a discount).
Not sure if you have always had your device plugged into outlet or only did so after experiencing an issue, but I will note that all the devices I have bought since 2017 have been plugged into an outlet and are still working. (some in surge protectors, some not).
Roku used to recommend power outlets over the TV USB, but stopped shipping the power adapters with their devices a few years back. Not sure if anecdotal or not, but other than the Streaming Stick models, seems more of the older set-top devices (Express/Premiere models) showed more issues and seem to fail prematurely when plugged into the TV USB. (especially as the Roku OS became more demanding).
