a2hanford, does the stick use the USB cable with the Wi-Fi receiver embedded in it? If so, those can fail and the remote will no longer work. Does the correct time appear in the upper right corner of the screen or does it say, "Not connected"? If the latter, that would be another indication that the Wi-Fi receiver has failed.
It was connected and I was able to use my mobile app as a remote until I did a network reset.
That does sound like the remote has died. Supposedly pressing and holding the Home and Back buttons (the two buttons next to each other at the top of the remote) for 10 seconds resets the remote, but I don't know if it's any different than taking the batteries out.
