Hi Acoustimac,
Thank you for your first post here in the Roku Community!
We understand you are having a problem with the Roku streaming stick since the cooking channel appeared when you turned on the Roku device. We're happy to help.
The Cooking Channel may appear on a Roku device when it starts up because it's been set as the startup channel. To change the startup channel on a Roku device, you can try these steps:
- Select the Settings tab.
- Select Preferences.
- Choose Startup Channel.
- Select Manage Startup Channel.
Please try doing this and see if it helps with what you're experiencing.
All the best,
John
Preferences is not an option with the streaming stick I have.

It started a few months ago and I’ve just been putting up with it. Only one of my five Rokus does this.

Is the cooking channel on the Samsung TV or the Roku?
Do you have a cooking channel installed? (on whichever one is doing it?)
Do you see a screen saver when you first turn on the TV?
Is the Roku being powered by the TV or is it independently powered from the wall?
What happens if you turn the TV on via the Samsung remote, and don’t touch the Roku remote at all?
