I have a roku ultra and streambar. I'm pretty happy with them, but is pretty ridiculous that in 2022 there isn't an option for gigabit Ethernet. Wired connection is just more consistent and faster. If that doesn't change I will buy a different brand next time.
What's wrong with standard 100Mbit? Unless you are streaming raw 4K from a network server, it's more than enough.

that's exactly it I want to be able to stream local content. Most of the time 100 Mbit should be enough, but it seems silly to limit it when gigabit is pretty much ubiquitous otherwise.

Yeah, cars run perfectly fine at 20 mph. You get to your destination. Right? Why go faster? If you want faster, just buy a Ferrari. Sure... See how well that sells.

fu2, that's a very poor analogy. A faster car will get you to your destination quicker. A faster network connection won't get you to the end of the movie any quicker and isn't necessary for Internet streaming. Local streaming maybe, but Roku has little to no interest in that.

The reality is that few people stream locally. Plus, if you want high bitrate video, you should be using higher-end videophile equipment, not consumer-level equipment.

You are probably right, but it seems like 1-gigabit Ethernet should be a standard on consumer level equipment.

I am having timing out issues. While watching tv, I get a three to five second delay then it resumes. This happens intermittently while watching, very annoying.... I bought ultra just to have a wired connection.... sucks!

If you are streaming from the Internet, then something else is going on. Internet streaming maxes out at about 25Mbit for 4K. If your speed is at least 50 or more, you should have no problems. Otherwise, it's probably an internal problem with your network. Exactly how is your Roku connected? Is it direct to a router or gateway? Is the cable a decent Cat5e or better? Is it round or flat? How long? Is it multiple services, or just one in particular?

That's what my PLEX server running on my NAS is exactly doing.

I'll throw in my $.02. While a gigabit port would be nice and frankly, I don't think the cost putting one in would be that great. ROKU's thing seems to be keep price way low and make it up from ads, subscriptions etc. I got an apple TV recently just to check it out. For starters, want an Ethernet port on your apple TV 4K?. Cost you just about $150: Wi-Fi + Ethernet with 128GB¹ storage $149.00. Second, setup was a nightmare for me. Took 4 hours. I could not setup an account. Why, I forgot I had gotten an I-Tunes account over 20 years ago. I had to use the forgot password link to get back into the account. Third the remote is too small and too sensitive for me. Barley touch it and it thinks you hit a button. Third, the home screen OK no ads but I think the layout stinks. Frankly I barely use the thing. Waste of $150.
