Roku Remote won't work

I changed the batteries, noticed that they were corroded. Bought a new remote, tried pairing it, and it still won’t work. Please advise, thank you.

First check that the battery terminals do not have corrosion as well. If so clean it up and try again. You can verify the remote has power by pointing the IR windows of the remote to a cell phone camera and press a button on your remote. Cameras can see Infra Red light and you will see the light flash. If you see the light then the remote has power.

There are two types of remotes, Voice and Simple

Simple Remotes (No Microphone Button) should auto connect. Voice Remotes have paring options.

Putting your voice remote into pairing mode
    With a pairing button:

    1. Found on the back or under the battery cover
    2. Press and hold for 5 seconds until the status light flashes

    Without a pairing button:

    1. Press and hold Back + Home buttons for 5 seconds until the status light flashes

Also, some aftermarket remotes might not be compatible with your Roku Device or Roku TV version
