Roku Remote only Power button works

I purchased a 58” Hisense Roku television 6 months ago.   It came with a simple remote, so I purchased a voice remote.   It turns the TV on and off, but that’s it.   I’ve tried to pair it multiple times, but it refuses to complete the setup. I am stumped at this point and not sure what to do. I don’t want to have to return the remote.   Please help!

Depends what kind of Voice Remote you have on how to initiate pairing.  I have found that putting the remote into pairing mode first and then restarting (or unplugging device/RokuTV and then plugging it back in to reboot)  is the easiest since the Roku will search for a remote upon boot.

If your Voice Remote has batteries, then remove battery cover and push the little pairing button until it flashes. (5 seconds or so).  Then restart the Roku device or RokuTV.  (on a RokuTV unplug, then plug back in and use the manual power button on the TV to turn it back on).

If your Voice Remote is rechargeable, then push Home and Back buttons together until light flashes (5 seconds or so).  Restart the Roku.

After the Roku reboots a spinning circle and pairing screen should appear within about 10 seconds or so.  Just make sure remote is at least partially charged or battery strength is decent to initiate pairing.
