Roku placing ads on landing screen

I see it reported in Cordcutter that Roku is planning on increasing ads on the Roku home screen. I was an early Roku adapter-refugee from cable turning into an ad marketplace. If Roku abuses my tolerance for an over abundance of ads, I'm gone. I'd rather go back to buying DVDs, or RIPing. Ad inundation is becoming like Minority Report. No thanks.
