Hi toomanytimes,
Welcome to the Roku Community!
I will be more than willing to provide you with the step-by-step process for disabling the Roku mobile app from being connected to your Roku Express.
There is a Control by mobile apps setting on your Roku device that when disabled, prevents the Roku mobile app and any third-party app from communicating with your Roku device. When this setting is disabled, you must use your Roku remote and enable the setting again using the following steps:
- Press Home on your remote
- Scroll and select Settings
- Select System
- Select Advanced System settings
- Select Control by mobile apps
- Select Network Access
- Choose one of three options:
- Default. This setting is for users who want to use the Roku mobile app or a third-party app to act as a remote and control their Roku device. Most users choose this setting.
- Permissive. For users who want the Roku mobile app or a third-party app to control their Roku device and are on a publicly accessible network. This choice is uncommon and typically used with an advanced network configuration.
- Disable: For users who do not want a third-party app to be able to control their Roku device.

Please let us know if you find this information helpful.

Hi helpusout,
Welcome to the Roku Community!
Thanks for letting us know about the behavior you've encountered on your Roku device, where someone can control your TV with the Roku app. We also appreciate the steps you took to resolve the issue.
The most likely explanation is that they are already connected to your Roku device and need to be manually removed from our authorized devices list on your Roku account settings; this is the only way to entirely prevent someone from using the Roku app on their phone to control your TV, even if they know your password.
You may follow these steps:
- Access your Roku account online: Go to the Roku website and log in using your Roku credentials.
- Manage devices: Navigate to "My streaming devices & TVs" to see a list of devices connected to your account.
- Remove unauthorized devices: Select the device you suspect someone is using and choose "Remove device or "Deregister device."
Let us know if this helps.
Thank you,
Chel
