I cannot believe ROKU would suspend the use of your product and their service until you sign a “ I wont join a class Action suit against Roku” Too me it smells like Gorilla tactics strong arming people in the dead of night to hit I won’t sue Class Action prompt. ) ROKU= “ Sorry this TV and these Streaming Devices will no longer work until you agree with us”. That in it self should constitute a violation of some kind and warrant a Class Action suit for strong arming customers in the dead of night. This is my two cents ( or ¢10 Biden inflation).

Having the same issue. I've been communicating with Roku via chat and they are aware. I do not have a Roku remote and my Chromecast remote won't let me accept the new terms. Honestly, I'm not entirely clear why I even need Roku or the benefit. I have a TCL TV and it seems to be their built-in interface so maybe the solution is don't buy a TCL TV. The TV in the bedroom is Samsung and works perfectly fine without Roku. Instead of updating their dispute terms, perhaps they should update their relevance.

I have a Phillips TV and it still won’t let me bypass. It

We have to agree with the terms of Roku or else don't use Roku anymore. One way choice only is to agree with the terms and then we will be billed for subscription next to use it.
No more free this time, We have to pay to their services.

Roku
Roku's privacy policy states that the company will collect "your search history, search results, audio information when you use voice-enabled features, channels you access (including usage statistics such as what channels you access, the time you access them and how long you spend viewing them), interactions with content and advertisements, and settings and preferences."
Roku says that it shares data with advertisers "including ads that you view within Roku's Channels and Third-Party Channels, as well as ads included in content that you view through your Roku TV's antenna and connected devices."
Here's what you need to do to limit or disable some of the tracking.
- From the main Roku menu, open Settings and head to Privacy.
- For Advertising, make sure that the box Limit ad tracking is checked. This stops Roku from personalizing ads and sharing viewing data from streaming channels for the purpose of measurement. Roku will let channel providers know that you prefer not to have personalized ads, but according to Roku, it is up to the providers if they honor your preference or not. Likewise, "Limit Ad Tracking" will not stop individual channels, like Hulu or Netflix, from collecting their own data on your usage or passing that info on to other parties.
- For those Roku devices that come with an embedded microphone in the remote, you can go to Microphoneand then Channel Microphone Access to choose how a channel gains access to the microphone. You can always allow them access, never allow them access or have a prompt pop up and ask for permission to access the microphone. With the Channel Permissions button, you can manage the permissions for each individual channel.

Ok so I looked at the contract, and it says
30 day right to opt out, you have the right to opt out of arbitration by sending written notice of your decision to opt out to the following address by mail
General consul, Rukku ink 1701 junction Court suite 100 San Jose, CA 95112
Within 30 days of you first becoming subject to these dispute resolution terms such noticed, must include the name of each person, opting out and contact information for each such person, the specific product model, software, or service used that are at issue the email the email address that you used to set up your Roku account and if applicable a copy of your purchase receipt for clarity, opt out notices submitted via any method other than mail, including email will not be a effective if you send timely written notice containing the required information in accordance with this section, 1(L) then neither party, will be required to arbitrate the claims between them

So I was able to agree, but who else finds it really really **bleep** that my TV that I have owned for several years becomes a huge wall mounted paperweight unless I agree/send opt out intentions via snail mail to Roku legal? I know this, I was a huge Roku fan, and have used many devices over the past 10 years, but I will never buy their product ever again after pulling this stunt. Never even would have thought about legal actioning (euphemism for the word Roku won't let me use LOL) Roku, but locking me out of my TV unless I agree to arbitration terms? I don't even know if its different than what I agreed to when I first set it up, don't lock me out of MY device.

Agree 100%. Another company that doesn't care about it's customers.
- Ernie19652 years agoNewbie
What are you doing are you holding millions of TVs hostage what are you going to do if no one signs you or Grace to your stupid agreement release our TVs we should not be held hostage
- Iwant2SueU2 years agoNewbie
Forcing us to agree to this "gag order" is not a way to win friends and build relationships. But apparently Roku does not care.
- Notv12 years agoReel Rookie
Someone suggested a reset (the button is located on back of the TV) but when the reset is done, you still have to agree to their terms in order to go forward so that doesn’t work if you are trying to opt out. Unfortunately I found out after the reset.

Yeah, holding peoples property hostages Isn’t a good idea they’re trying to get people to sign a contract not to press a class action law. suit. Maybe this will actually make it happen for a separate reason of which they’re trying to avoid Wouldn’t let me put the two words together because apparently it’s not permitted in this community I have never thought about it nor have I ever done it to anybody nor was I planning to

This is my TV. Purchased years ago. Now I can't use it all unless I agree to their new "Dispute Resolution Terms". I can't use it to watch a DVD or as a display for my computer. You can cancel my account. I will never buy anything related to Roku ever again. Everyone who understands the ramifications of being forced into an agreement needs to request their money be returned. This is bull****.

I totally agree with you. I had to go on the Internet to find out what I can do to bypass this message. It said to go to the settings, but I still feel it’s not gonna help.
this can’t be happening. How could something like this be happening? It’s being held hostage.honestly feel that Roku did something shady and they’re trying to cover it up. I’m not hitting that button I was just gonna sit back and watch and if there is a tiuswaL I have to spell it backwards, or I won’t be able to post it going on, I’m gonna jump on that wagon! I’m so mad I purchased this how can they hold it hostage? I don’t understand that. I’m so mad!

The fact that a company who has my credit card and personal info on file wants to waive any lawsuits, is questionable and very concerning. So if our info & cards get hacked into, they're not help responsible? The coercion into agreeing is very shady. I unplugged mine and tossed it to the side. There's other products out there which are similar and better than roku.

Download the Roku app on your phone. Once it's installed connect your device(s) to your phone. Once you have completed that task you will then be able to control your tv from your phone. Ergo, you will be able to hit, "Agree" and watch your programs.

snicodemus, make sure you're using the TV's remote if you have another Roku device connected that has its own remote.
- pcourtright2 years agoNewbie
Even using the TV remote, none of the buttons I push allows me to "accept". Am I missing something?
- 6166Rock2 years agoNewbie
You have to get the Roku remote app in your phone and use it to accept and then I deleted the app.

So I don’t know about yall but I am really sick of seeing people like this on here who don’t know the difference between being a respectful person who asks for permission if something’s ok or not like we all know that it’s not ok to do it otherwise we all also know that we all can’t just be hiding some kind of letter or document that says that we can do whatever we want to do to someone else and that’s fine and we don’t even have to ask permission or anything to do so we just need a little bit of writing and then presto to do it to then we can just let it all be a little bit more than what we need to say that we don’t have to be honest about it but we just need some kind of communication and that’s fine once you have a lot of writing and that’s all that you have to do it all right now so go do whatever it is you don’t know if they know but do it anyway I don’t know if you know that means nothing to us if they know forsure or if they understand or anything like that but just let that out of the mind what your doing is fine it’s not wrong I mean you did hide the fact that you can do whatever you can do that is totally fine with you know who but none of us are cool with that and that’s not fair to anyone to do to anyone else I mean you don’t even care about your people and that’s not even fair it’s a joke you know that and that’s not a good idea to be honest with you I don’t think you should be doing anything that is wrong to be honest with you and you know what you are doing I know you know that it’s wrong but you don’t care about it I don’t want you to be mean to be serious I just think you should be careful about what you’re doing this is a huge problem with all you companies and it’s gotta stop like yesterday

Same here! I just went to the Roku app on my IPhone & brought up the remote within the app instead of using the actual Roku remote & it worked!!!! Pop up now gone & TV is fully functioning.
- 6166Rock2 years agoNewbie
That worked. Thank you!!
- scahill2 years agoNewbie
Yes, I can not even agree if I wanted to! It's stuck on that screen. help! New, non-Roku TV needed????
- PJSchannel12 years agoNewbie
The same problem, can't Agree, gets stuck.
I unplugged, changed the plug-in channels, and nothing brings back Roku.
