Have a Roku tv that is disabled because of the message. When contacting customer service, they want a credit card to charge me to help clear the problem they created. Currently rebooting

Reboot didn't work. I unplugged my Roku soundbar. And the General Counsel will hear from me Monday. Sadly for them, I'm a professional expert witness. Game on **bleep**es...

Just a thought. Has anyone thought of suuu ng in small claims court for the cost of the Rokus and TVs BEFORE agreeing to their demand? In my non-legal opinion, they have basically rendered your Roku useless unless you give up your rights. Is that even legal?? Imagine if you bought a car and then months later the manufacturer came along and disabled it until you promise to never take them to court for bad product behavior.

This pop-up/contract reminds me of a less funny version of the old National Lampoon joke ("If You Don't Buy This Magazine, We'll Kill This Dog"):

Disconnected from your TV and connected back in you’ll be able to watch it but if you try to watch another app on Roku, it’ll bring up that agreement bull**bleep**. I did look this up online and hoping that it will help
Roku
Roku's privacy policy states that the company will collect "your search history, search results, audio information when you use voice-enabled features, channels you access (including usage statistics such as what channels you access, the time you access them and how long you spend viewing them), interactions with content and advertisements, and settings and preferences."
Roku says that it shares data with advertisers "including ads that you view within Roku's Channels and Third-Party Channels, as well as ads included in content that you view through your Roku TV's antenna and connected devices."
Here's what you need to do to limit or disable some of the tracking.
- From the main Roku menu, open Settings and head to Privacy.
- For Advertising, make sure that the box Limit ad tracking is checked. This stops Roku from personalizing ads and sharing viewing data from streaming channels for the purpose of measurement. Roku will let channel providers know that you prefer not to have personalized ads, but according to Roku, it is up to the providers if they honor your preference or not. Likewise, "Limit Ad Tracking" will not stop individual channels, like Hulu or Netflix, from collecting their own data on your usage or passing that info on to other parties.
- For those Roku devices that come with an embedded microphone in the remote, you can go to Microphoneand then Channel Microphone Access to choose how a channel gains access to the microphone. You can always allow them access, never allow them access or have a prompt pop up and ask for permission to access the microphone. With the Channel Permissions button, you can manage the permissions for each individual channel.

So glad hear that someone knows how to make them address the madness of blocking services while still taking payments.

You did not contact Roku support. Roku does not charge for customer service. You instead contacted some scam company that wanted your CC number for likely illegal purposes.

I drafted my eff'ing (Section 1(L)) letter. It will be in tomorrow's mail!

Do you mind to share an example of your opt out letter , without your personal information. I don’t want to press the agree button, I want to opt out , but because I am not proficient in English I am worry of the language I may use in that letter.
Thank You

Do NOT search the web for a customer service contact for Roku. In almost every case the only thing you will find are scammers that can't actually help you and want to steal your CC information. Roku does NOT charge for support, period.
As to this arbitration agreement, I haven't seen it, but my Roku is generally only used by my grandson in the morning before he goes to school. But I do tend to check for updates on a daily basis and as of yesterday I haven't seen this. However, I just checked my Ultra 4800 and the notice did appear. I read through the document and frankly I probably would not have an issue with it. Roku players are so inexpensive that there's no value in attempting a law-suit over anything as trivial as this.
That said, after I pressed the home button a couple of time the message went away and I can use the Roku without accepting the agreement. Maybe it will return after some period of time. But it does seem you can exit the notice without accepting it.

You would have ISSUES if Roku Support failed to resolve persistent issues with DirecTV for way over a year now!

And now you're bricking Roku TV's unless people agree to the Dispute Resolution Terms?
