Solved

roku.com/link seems to be down.

I'm trying to activate a device with roku.com/link but that takes me to an error page (error 500). I've tried on my android phone in chrome and Firefox in wifi and 5g, on my PC in chrome, edge, and Firefox. Nothing will load the page. I've even tried using a VPN to try from other locations.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

  • That link no longer works.  Any device that's telling you to use that link is almost certainly no longer supported.  Check the model number written on the device and if it appears under "Legacy models" in the following link there's no way to activate it and it wouldn't be of much good if you could.

The answer is to never restart an older Roku, otherwise, you're bricking it.  You'll just have to deal with whatever glitchy behavior is being foisted on it by content providers or the inaction of Roku itself.
