Remote will not pair iaw the instructions

Yes I have tried every variation of the instructions. It is brand new and will not pair. I have put in new batteries and restarted the Roku etc. The remote already flashes the green light when you place batteries in it. It does not need the back and home buttons pushed to start flashing. Pushing the home and back buttons does nothing. This is the roku streaming stick 4k.

    Thanks for posting, and welcome to the Roku Community.

    I understand that you are having trouble pairing your Roku remote, and I'm here to help.

    Initiate Pairing Mode

    1. Restart your streaming device to enter pairing mode. Unplug the Roku device for 15 seconds, and plug it again.
    2. When your streaming device is powered on, it will automatically enter pairing mode 
    3. If the remote does not initiate pairing, you can press the Home and Back button for 5 seconds to enter pairing mode.
