Remote is sluggish or not working

I have a TCL Roku tv and 2more Roku devices at home.  The remotes are sluggish at best.  They will power on the devices but when it comes to controlling them it takes a few minutes or a restart to get the devices to respond

is there a way to improve the performance of the remotes and devices??

  • Hi, Timler63

Thanks for posting here in the Roku Community.

We appreciate you for bringing this to our attention, and we're sorry to hear about the trouble. Seeing that you're having an issue with your remote, we recommend performing a restart on it. Kindly follow the steps below:

Re-pair your voice remote to your streaming device

Put your streaming device in pairing mode:

    1. Remove the power cable from your streaming device
    2. Wait at least 5 seconds
    3. Re-connect the power cable
    4. Wait for your streaming device to power on, and the Home screen to appear on your TV screen
    5. Within 30 seconds of seeing the Home screen on your TV screen, put your voice remote into pairing mode

Put your voice remote in pairing mode:

    1. Press and hold the pairing button on your voice remote for 20 seconds. The status light should slowly flash green, stop, and then flash rapidly. When this happens, release the pairing button and your remote will restart.
    2. Press and hold the pairing button for 5 seconds, or until you see the status light begin to flash. If the light does not flash, charge your remote.
    3. Wait for 30 seconds while the remote establishes a connection with your streaming device.

Once your streaming device and remote are connected, the pairing dialog will appear on your TV screen.

Keep us posted on how this works.

    All the best,
    Kash

  • My roku soundbar and remote also no longer work. I've tried all the resets and only get stuck on language screen for maybe 5-10 seconds which then gets stuck on a page wanting me to use my phone to go to the roku site to repair my remote. FYI, this same remote stopped working about a week ago, but I was able to pair it and fix it. Now, nothing works at all.

I got the bar working after hard resetting bar and my tv. However, it did fry my remote. This is the 2nd remote that has gone bad. Is Roku able to provide me with a replacement? It's the AAA battery voice remote. FYI, my older non-voice remote is still working just fine on an older model.
