New TV Cycling onn roku tv screen from powered on and off

I bought a new tv a week ago. Set it up and it said it had some updates to do. While it was doing updates, my house lost power and now it won't stop on/off cycling. It never gets to the actual main page to do a factory reset. I tried unplugging it and left it unplugged all night. I plugged it in this morning and it goes right back to the same thing. The remote won't even work to turn it off completely. Please help!!!

  • It is possible that a power surge damaged the TV.  An outage can do severe damage, even with individual surge protectors or a whole house surge protector.  Although they help, they don't provide 100 percent protection and new electronics are very sensitive these days to those surge/spikes when the power comes back on.

I would suggest either returning the TV while you are in the return window or contacting Onn customer support directly.

One thing I also recommend is connecting a surge protector that shuts off for a specific period of time (usually 4 minutes) when there is an outage to protect from those spikes that occur when power comes back.  I have them on all my sensitive electronics including my fridge and they seem to help.

KimHorincewich, there should be reset button somewhere on the back.  With the power connected, press and hold it for no less than 30 seconds.  It may take something like a paperclip to press the button through a little pinhole.
