MP4, like MKV or MPG is a container, and within that container there are audio and video codecs, as well as possible captions tracks. It's entirely possible to have a supported container (such as MP4) but not have a supported codec within it. I realize you we previously able to play the files, which I can't explain if it does actually contain unsupported codecs. Could you please determine the codecs within your container? There are multiple free programs available that can do that for you, including MediaInfo and FFMPEG (a command line program).
