IR Codes - Older Sharp TV

I recently purchased a Roku Ultra and when going through the setup process, the remote could not find the proper IR code for my LC-80LE844U Sharp TV...which is probably 8-10 years old. On/off doesn't work but other functions do, such as voice search function, scrolling, etc.  I think I just need the appropriate IR code. Any ideas?

  • Hello @cwdrift, and welcome to the Roku Community!

Thank you for reaching out regarding the volume and power issues with your Roku remote. We are here to assist you in resolving this matter and will do our best to help you get things back on track.

To set up your voice remote, please follow these steps:

    • 1. Go to Settings
    • 2. Select Remotes & Devices
    • 3. Choose Remote
    • 4. Click on, Set Up Remote for TV Control

    NOTE:

    1. When you hear music playing, select Yes to confirm. If you do not hear music playing, try increasing the volume using your TV remote.
    2. Next, your Roku device attempts to mute the volume using remote codes for the detected TV brand. If the music stops, select Yes.
    3. If the music continues to play, select No. Your Roku device could not detect the correct information about your TV. However, you can manually enter the brand by choosing Enter TV brand.
    4. A list to the right populates as you enter the brand using the on-screen keyboard. After populating, you select the music and begin playing again. Select Yes when you hear it. As before, your Roku device again attempts to mute the volume, using the first of multiple remote codes for the TV brand you entered. After trying each code, you are asked if the music stops playing. When it does, select Yes
    5. Your Roku voice remote is now programmed to control both power and volume on your TV. Select OK to continue.

Please inform us if the issue has been resolved or respond to this thread for further assistance. We are happy to help you.

But that doesn't work.  I went through 40 codes, then it said try back later...???

When I look up the Sharp TV I have - Model LC-80LE844U - it says Roku is built in... That can't be right...?

I was on the phone with Roku Support for over an hour.  We kept trying the same thing over and over, but it would work.

The remote pairs and works the streaming functions, but will not turn on/off the TV or control the volume?

Plus I have a 3rd part sound bar - now that I bought the Roku Ultra - there is a on screen message that says it will not work with 3rd part sound bars.  That was not in the sale material.

      Frustrated in Austin.

Sharp Aquos have given many remotes fits because of its backlighting, try turning it off through Sharp settings.
