Incorrect code when connecting to Airplay on any Apple device

I have bought a Roku Express 4k few days ago and found out the screen mirroring / airplay function is not working, i keep getting the same request for the code when entering the code correctly.

I have an Iphone 14 pro with iOS 18.0.1 (latest update) and a Roku Express 4k with the following details (updated to the latest version)

Model: 3940EU2 - Roku Express 4K

Serial number: X02200P1AE8U

Software version: 13.1.4 • build 1510-E4

Device ID: SOHGK461AE8U

TRACKER ID : 8-405-374

( you can generate one after you see the issue by pressing the Home button 5 times followed by the Back button 5 times)

I have tried everything from restarting to latest updates, everything i could find online, because i see roku does not offer agent support for the Roku Express 4k. I have bought it for the purpose of streaming and screen mirroring, it seems sad that the product is not fit for its purpose.

Please let me know if anyone encountered this and has a fix.

Thanks.🙂

I have tried all of these things and it still fails. Updated Roku system software today (just received my express 4K), tried with both laptop and iPhone, tried switching between 5G and non-5G wifi connections...

  • Hello everyone. I have seen this issue come up a few times but nothing I have read or tried has worked so far. I have a brand new Roku Express 4K+ 3941R2 and when I enter the 4 digit code on my Macbook Pro it just continues to prompt me over and over again to enter the code. It will not connect. Yes both are on the same Wi-Fi Network.

    What I have tried:

    • Turning AP off, resetting devices on AP, restarting Roku, turning AP back on.
    • Setting AP to passcode and the same issue occurs with prompting over and over to enter passcode.

I am having the same issue everyone else is having with a brand new Roku Ultra LT that I just purchased today Nov 12th, 2024. I have tried connecting 3 devices (iPhone, iPad, Macbook Pro) and all of them fail when entering the paiting code.  I have also tried rebooting the Roku, wifi router and Apple devices.

After seeing multiple threads of people reporting the same issue for months and not having a solution I will probably end up returnning the device as well.

Thank you for this reply.  I have already returned my express4k + with plans on purchasing the ultra hoping to catch a Black Friday sale.  Looks like Roku may not be the answer.  They can’t get the airplay to work on anything but a full tv set.  I have a TCL Roku tv and it works fine.  Guess I’ll be looking at other brands if they can’t find a fix!!

  • same exact issue.  windows computer connects ok but any apple device (Macbook, Iphone, Ipad) it will not accept the pin code.  been through all settings, switched wifi networks, read some of the other posts, there are many of us.  we need this fixed, it's why we bought the Roku

The issue is:  airplay will not connect as it will not accept the 4 digit pin code.  when does the issue occur?  every time I try it with an IOS or mac device.  Ive tried 3 Iphones, all running different versions of IOS, mac version of OS is: Sonoma 14.6.1

        OS-415-797, model 3941x2- roku express 4k+, serial x02200A7370s, software ver 14.0.4, build 12221-e4 GC ver 12.4.17, time stamp 2024-10-15T17:57:49Z

Its clearly an issue with Roku and Apple, as a windows laptop will connect fine.  haven't tried android as I don't own one.

Now is there a developer working on this?  do the other versions of Roku have the same issue?

        Thanks

  • I have returned the product as no solution has been given to me. Sorry roku

I have the same problem as others have listed. i will provide the requested information; however, it seems to be a broader issue between apple and newer rokus. i did not have this problem with my older one.

We want to further investigate this issue that you had with the Roku Express 4K+ since the Airplay feature is not working. Can you please provide the following information below?

        • Roku device model, serial number, device ID, and software OS/version (these can all be found in Settings > System > About)
        • Tracker ID when this issue occurs (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times, and provide us with this ID)
        • What troubleshooting steps have you taken so far?

We look forward to hearing from you soon and gathering your details.

        Thanks,
        John

  • Thats NOT a solution.  been through the steps and nothing works.  windows computer works, just the Apple devices dont.

  • I’ve been trying to set up AirPlay to mirror my MacBook screen using a Roku Express 4K connected to my 27-inch BenQ monitor. AirPlay is enabled on the Roku, with the “Require Code” option set to “First Time Only.” When I attempt to extend the display from my MacBook, sure enough the "Roku Express 4K" appears in the list and when I select it, I’m prompted to enter the code displayed on the monitor. After entering the code, I get an “Incorrect code” message, and it keeps asking me to enter the code again. No code seems to be accepted, and using the password option doesn’t work either. Can anyone help me solve this issue?
