Impecca TV Not Listed

I have Roku Streaming Stick+ connected to an Impecca 32" TV, which I have used since last July.  This was never an issue until today.  Knowing that my voice remote batteries were new, I knew something went wrong with the pairing while I was scrolling through movies on Amazon Prime.  It froze without my being able to exit the app and get back to the home screen.  I had to do this a few times - shutting the TV off, disconnecting both Roku and TV, removing the batteries, then plugging the TV back in, turning it on, reconnecting the Roku, replacing the batteries.  I did not see much green light flashing; so it must have automatically paired.  The hard way I learned that hitting simultaneously the back and home buttons did the opposite; it froze the remote.  However, when I got to Settings and Devices, where I had to enter the brand, it still showed Insigna.  When I entered Impecca, the system could not find it.  Is there any significance to being able to enter your TB brand?  I am back to streaming now; and all seems to work.  Thank you all in advance.

My God, I spoke too soon!  Now that I went back into the Amazon Prime app, it froze again while scrolling.  Everything's been disconnected until now.  I just plugged in the TV and I am afraid the fix is not going to last long.  Am I doing something wrong during this reset?

    Hey tightpurchaser

Roku remotes often default to familiar brands like Insignia, which can cause issues when your TV brand isn't listed, like Impecca. Try completely unplugging your Roku and TV, then re-pair the remote by holding Back + Home buttons until the light flashes. If it still freezes, consider a full reset of your Roku stick (hold the reset button until it restarts). Also, HDMI interference might cause freezing—try an HDMI extender if possible. Fingers crossed your streaming flows smoothly again soon!

I am getting tired of trying to find my most recent posts.  If there are too many for one page, then why not add a page 2 at the bottom?  This is getting to be like finding needles in haystacks.  Anyway, I just wanted to post that Roku after the factory reset added apps that I did not want.  You already know I've had to remove "howdy."  Then they added Netflix, Hulu and all the cable-cutting, live platforms out there; but they saved the ones I had before.

It already has an HDMI extender.  Now, it looks like posts to this thread disappeared.  RokuSuzette, who actively participated in this thread, had her posts either removed or hidden.  Having received a notification that she posted here within the last two hours, I cannot find it.

  • Yes, that is a good idea for someone to do.  My model is Roku Streaming Stick+.  I had to dissemble it to get this information; so I hope it still works after I post all this.  The model is 3810X and the serial number is 213091829188.  Your instructions bring up a different serial number, YH001X829188.  Software version is 15.0.  Tracker ID is 88-428-710.  Thanks again.

You know, it occurred to me this past hour that the usual red icon in the upper right corner of the screen that usually shows when the user is near to when the remote needs new batteries never came on.  That little graphic that shows batteries almost empty of their power never popped up.  That is unusual compared other times I knew to replace the batteries.

  • My reset button is the pinhole below the power button on top, one of those controls that doesn't work because of the brand of TV.  Anyway, I just reconnected and powered everything up.  NADA!  It is still frozen and nothing works.  Do you think it is the remote?  If so, then I will have to put in an order.  Walmart's Roku remotes are not for the streaming sticks.

Have you tried pressing and holding the reset button for 30 seconds? If not, give that a try. After the reset, pair the remote with your Roku device. If the remote still doesn’t work, replace the batteries and try pairing again. If the issue continues, we suggest getting a new Roku remote. Since you mentioned needing to order one, you can visit this link to make a purchase.

Hope this helps! Let us know if you need more info.

I don't know why these posts are so out of order.  If not for an email notification, then I would not have known RokuSuzzette posted recently.  No, I did not hold the button for that long; but I'll try it.  A friend just now suggested changing the batteries.  I may as well try that too.

  • For this reset, do the batteries have to be in or out?  I should also ask, does Roku have to be up on the screen?  If that is so, then after unplugging everything, I will have to plug everything back in and turn it on, hoping everything connects.

It's great you asked that, tightpurchaser!

Yes, if you're doing a factory reset, your Roku must be powered on and connected to your TV so you can see if the reset goes through, since you will be doing it manually. Also, you will need to get your Roku remote ready, with the batteries plugged in, after completing the reset process, as you will need to pair the remote again.

If the remote is repaired during the re-setup process, you may follow the on-screen instructions until it's completely set up.

  • I said before that I cannot do a factory reset because I cannot get to that option with the remote.  This began today after I visited Amazon through its Prime Video app.  Could they have caused this?  Everything is now unplugged.

      I see, tightpurchaser.

Just to clarify, this is the only app you visited today that caused the issue to recur, correct?

Regarding the factory reset, you may be able to do that even without accessing the Settings. Since your Roku remote is not working at the moment, try locating a pinhole or a reset button on the Roku device itself, and you can do the hard reset from there.

Here's a more detailed view of that: How to factory reset your Roku streaming device

Let me know if you need additional help!

  • This is a small apartment with only room for one TV; and that Impecca is it.   I am not going to look for neighbors' TV's to plug that thing into.  This is a voice remote; and I could not use that feature.

      I understand, tightpurchaser

You mentioned that you will try doing a factory reset. If you're comfortable doing it, we'd like to know if this will work and fix the unexpected behavior you're experiencing.

Hoping to know what you find!

  • It doesn't look like I'll be trying anything.  Before the Home screen comes up, it disconnects from the Internet.  That screen with the big dancing letters comes up for a moment, then the Home screen comes on.  But now, it is frozen.  I was going to do a factory reset.  Underneath the first battery compartment in back, it gives the model as RC-EL1.  I hope that helps.

      Got it! tightpurchaser

We'd like to know, does connecting the Roku Streaming Stick to another TV exhibit the same behavior? Also, did you notice any recent updates before this happened?

Let us know when you can!

  • Roku Community Team, You must have posted while I edited my original post.  The problem recurred, again while on Amazon Prime.  I disconnected everything, but reconnected the TV a minute ago.

Seems like the issue occurred again. Could you please share the Roku Remote model you have so we can take a closer look?

Hoping to hear from you soon!

    Hey, tightpurchaser

We noticed you're experiencing issues with your remote buttons and your TV brand wasn’t available in the list. Thanks for already trying some troubleshooting steps.

The TV brand in Roku settings helps the remote control your TV’s power and volume. If Impecca isn’t listed, those buttons might not work—but streaming won’t be affected. You can try choosing a similar brand that uses the same remote codes.

You can also visit this link for troubleshooting steps to restart your Roku remote. Once you've completed the reset, go ahead and pair it again. After that, please check if the remote is working properly.

Let us know how it goes!
