how to connect remote without a remote?

i lost my remote and cannot use my TV as it is not connected to the internet, but i’m also not able to reach the settings to connect to internet or connect a new remote because i do not have a remote connected to get to the settings. what can i do?

  • You need a physical remote to get connected to Wi-Fi.  You don't necessarily need a Roku remote, but the universal remote must support Roku TVs (not just Roku players).

Less then hundred dollar Universal remotes can only control a Roku by IR, meaning just program the correct code into the universal remote it should just work, nothing to do on the Roku itself.

So if I lost the remote all I can do is order another one ? That's the gist of it..?

Yes. Any universal remote that supports Roku will control a Roku box. They're IR remotes, and you just follow the instructions in the box to set it up for Roku.

Unless it's a Roku Stick or Roku TV that you have. Then, you should probably get a Roku Voice Remote. You may be able to pick one up locally from Walmart, Best Buy, Target, etc.
