Hotel/dorm prompt does not pop up when connecting to internet

I've seen a few forums on this and I have tried everything. I don't know if there are any other suggested solutions?

I use a publicly available xfinity for internet. Connecting in the past it has always given me the at a dorm or at home prompt. For some reason now it has issues connecting and just keeps on giving me an error code.

I have tried resetting all networks to make it forget to give me the prompt to connect - nothing.

I even went as far as factory resetting the Roku so it would allow me to reconnect...It just refuses to give that "hotel/dorm" prompt, which then makes it impossible to connect.

    Hey AngelCakexo

We understand you're concern. Try resetting your network by going to: Settings > System > Advanced System Settings > Network Connection Reset.

Then follow these steps to reconnect:

      1. Press the Home button on your Roku remote
      2. Go to Settings > Network > Set up connection
      3. Choose Wireless
      4. Select your hotel or dorm’s Wi-Fi from the list
        • If you don’t see it, choose Scan again
      5. Once connected, select I am at a hotel or college dorm

You can visit How to use Hotel and Dorm Connect to connect to the internet.

    Welcome AngelCakexo

It looks like you have an issue connecting the TV or device to the WiFi network, and thank you for trying to perform the troubleshooting steps.

Aside from the Xfinity hotspot, have you tried connecting to another network, like an in-home WiFi or a mobile hotspot? If not, please give it a try connecting to another network and check if you can connect successfully. Also, could you provide the error code that you are seeing on the screen when you try to connect to the Xfinity hotspot?

      The error code is 014.50

It connects to my phone hotspot. But that's not a long term solution for me as it just drains my phone, and slows connection on both the phone and TV.

The issue is it's not giving me the hotel room/or at home prompt when I click on XFinity. But it isn't an issue with Xfinity because my other devices connect to that Wi-Fi fine.

I've been using the Roku since 2023, always connecting it to the Xfinity spot. Occasionally having to reconnect.

The past 3-4 months the hotel/home prompt doesn't come up. Which is needed to successfully connect.

Thank you for that additional information.

Since we have confirmed that the TV can connect to the mobile phone hotspot, that means it is working. Quick note, the Xfinity hotspot is a public network wherein everyone can connect. Once it reaches the limit, there will be a possibility that it will experience signal interference, wherein some of the connected devices may find it hard to connect back to it.

For further assistance, it would be best to contact the Xfinity Internet Service Provider. You can reach them at this link.
