HDMI out from laptop will not duplicate display, only extend as a second monitor

Solution.....

On primary screen. Goto display settings in windows. Scroll all the way down and look for a check box that say make this my primary display. Check box then use drop down menu above to select duplicate display. 

This worked for me on 3 systems. It happened after roku update. I found this page figured I'd answer for those whom are still lost.
