Couple of questions on my roku need advice

I have a TCL 43S453 Roku TV (4K 43" LCD).

In the past there wasn't a problem, but after an update awhile ago (yes, I've been dragging my feet on this), I noticed that when I'm in an app and I don't do anything for a minute, when the screensaver kicks in (as expected, which is a blank screen), it will essentially "take a nap." By this I mean that in Plex, it will stop playing whatever I had paused. Just now in another app, the network connection was being ignored (I was trying to use the Roku app on my phone with no response).

Also, even though I manually select the background, screensaver, etc., those settings will be ignored and change to a seasonal one. The way it happens I feel it is on purpose, where it's being forced to accept the seasonal change vs leaving my settings alone.

Is it just me experiencing this? If not, are there any settings/options I play with to change this behavior?

You can actually adjust or set your screensaver wait time by navigating to your Theme menu > selecting Screensaver wait time > choosing the amount of time to wait > and pressing OK.

In addition, on various occasions throughout the year, Roku releases seasonal themes. Your Roku device will automatically display a seasonal theme and switch back after it expires. No worries! There is an option to disable it through the Themes menu > select Seasonal themes > select Off.

    Hope this helps!

Why does the screensaver timeout?  It will not stay on continuously.

        Hi Chettis,

        Welcome to the Roku Community!

We're here to help. Does the screen go to screensaver when it passes 20 minutes or more? If so, you can define the amount of time your Roku device waits before starting the screensaver using the following instructions.

        1. Press Home on your Roku remote
        2. Scroll and select Settings
        3. Select Theme to open the Theme menu
        4. Select Screensaver wait time
        5. Choose the amount of time to wait, or choose to disable the screensaver
        6. Press OK on your Roku remote to save

You can also refer to this Support article: How to change the screensaver on your Roku streaming device.

Please keep us posted on how it works.

        All the best,

        Chel
