Can you stretch to fit backdrop pictures to display the full screen?

I have finally figured how to configure backdrops to work on my TCL Roku TV. I created an album of my own photos takes through the years and uploaded 43 pics.  But they are all different format sizes (all landscape but still different sizes with different cameras/phones). Some of the pics have a lot of blank area on the sides. Is there an option to “stretch to fit” the picture to use the full TV display area?  If not I will need to spend a few hours reformatting all my pics to the correct ratio and reupload them 😞

  • Hi TXHarleyGirl,

Welcome, and thanks for the post to the Roku Community!

We understand you are inquiring about an option of stretch to fit the backdrop picture to use the full TV display.

Please be advised that there is no option to stretch to fit the picture. It will be displayed in the picture's aspect ratio. Our curated photos on it will fill the screen, but added ones will be in whatever aspect ratio they are.

Well I use the backdrops with your curated photos and the picture is zoomed in. It doesn’t fit the screen and you can’t even see the full picture. How do I fix this?

RWPDallas, 16x9 or in other words the width should be 1.7778 times the height - e.g., 1920x1080, 1280x720, etc.

There really needs to be a stretch to fit option. People want to use their photos, not the generic Roku photos.

      Hi, Madking1

      Thanks for posting!

We appreciate the feedback on the "stretch to fit" images on Backdrops. While Roku does not have this feature yet, there's an option to change the format of your photos to be uploaded on Backdrops. The usual size for this is a 16:9 aspect ratio.

We value your interest and will consider your feedback as we develop and improve our features to enhance the Roku streaming experience.

      Thanks,
