Can "Roku Voice Remote Pro" shortcuts open you tube tv, live programming

I have several Roku streaming sticks with standard voice remotes.  When I say "Open you tube tv", they launch the you tube app, not the you tube TV app.  I wonder if the pro version is any better.  Ideally, I'd like the favorite to launch "live TV" which is a top level menu option in the YouTube TV App.  (Since that is mostly what I watch.)  Can the Roku Voice Remote Pro do this?

  • I decided purchase the Roku Voice Pro in order to answer my question and return it if it did not support the features I was looking for.

    I found that.

    1. The voice command recognition is better than my original voice remote.  The pro remote can correctly open You Tube TV.
    2. The two shortcut buttons can easily be set to turn the TV on and open any installed app.
    3. The voice command cannot currently navigate through the menu of an app.  So, asking to open You Tube TV, Select Live, is not supported.  A message appears saying it is not yet supported.  So perhaps a future upgrade?

Unrelated to the original post is why I chose the original Pro model instead of the 2nd addition which is now available at the same price.  I believe two shortcut buttons are more important than a guide button I will never use and a more cumbersome "quick launch" button.

I have my doubts it would be any different than your current voice remote. You might try different voice characterizations when saying the word, perhaps it might pick it up correctly with a slight pronunciation.

One thing the new Voice Remote does have is a shortcut button on the remote that can be programmed to open an app, so that would work as well without worrying about pronunciation.
