Airplay connecting but not playing

I recently bought the Roku onn 50 inch tv only 4 months ago. I’ve been having problems connecting to my airplay since getting it. All the devices have been updated and connected to the same network. Whenever we try and airplay the tv will go to the airplay screen and say device connected, but the video won’t play. How do I fix this? I’ve tried unplugging it and restarting it. #airplay

  • So no solution here? Just restart everything and hope for the best.  If that doesn’t work, buy a different brand.

I regret getting Roku. Thought it would work reliably with airplay and clearly it doesn’t and they don’t care.

    Hi Morglsc,

Thank you for your first post here in the Roku Community!

We acknowledge this issue you've been experiencing with AirPlay on your Roku TV. We're glad to assist.

The simplest approach to getting AirPlay working again is to unplug your Roku TV from the power source for approximately 60 seconds and try rebooting your phone as well. After doing so, re-launch AirPlay once more and see if there will be a difference. Also, try rebooting your router, as this may be a factor in why content does not reflect on your device.

If the problem still persists, keep us posted.

    Best regards,
    John

It happened to mine too and I did what you said and it still happens. Any other idea?

Thanks for letting us know about the issue with AirPlay and Apple TV not working on the Roku device.

In this case, we suggest these quick steps to help you out: navigate to Settings > Advanced system settings > Network connection reset > Reset connection.

Additionally, could you please restart your router/modem and mobile device, and then attempt to reconnect your Roku device?

Let us know if this works for you!
