My Wireless Roku Camera stopped working

I brought my wireless outdoor camera inside to charge. It is not charging, no blinking lights. I did everything I could think of. Also, the base doesn't pair with the camera any more. I did the reboot on the base and router. Removed the app on my phone, reinstalled the app. For whatever reason, it's not working. Checked the network connection. Everything is up to date. The camera is a little over a year old. I am NOT happy.

It shouldn't be this difficult!! Thoughts anyone?

  • Hi NEM,

    Welcome to the Roku Community!

We get that your Roku Outdoor Camera SE is not charging. We would be more than willing to provide you with additional troubleshooting steps for this issue.

    Kindly follow the details below.

    • Please make sure that you are plugging the Roku Outdoor Camera SE  directly into the Roku Base Station.
    • Try using a different charging cable (Micro USB plug type)
    • If the camera flashes red, when connected to a charging cable but the battery level still shows 0% in the app, this is likely not a hardware defect. Try re-pairing the Roku Outdoor Camera (Battery)  with the Base Station.
    • If it has already been set up successfully, make sure the camera has the latest firmware installed.
    • Manually switch the camera on/off using the power switch on the back of the camera.

If the camera is still not flashing red when connected to a charging cable, please let us know.

We look forward to your response.

    Regards,
    Riamie

Hi Riame, thank you for your response. The camera is plugged in directly to the base. No light appears at all. It used to flash red when charging. I have updated the firmware. I've tried sooo many times to connect to the base with no avail. I've tried another micro cable, that didn't work either. I tried to reset the base....delete the app, install the app. Nothing is working. Camera is not flashing red, so therefore it is not charging. The base does not see the camera. The wifi is the same on my phone as the router. I really have checked everything and done everything. All day yesterday I tried. Then again this morning. And now again. Still not working.

I’m in the same boat and I literally just bought my Roku Battery camera and directly from the Roku website too since Walmart only sold the SE version and I thought the regular would be better. I was so wrong. I haven’t even had this camera for a whole month and it’s already completely dead. No lights, no sounds, nothing. Even after letting it charge on the base station although it didn’t actually need charging and also trying multiple cables and bricks, still nothing and I see Roku customer service just acts like robots mimicking what the previous rep says and not actually providing a solution. I had such high hopes with this camera after having so many issues with the outdated models (I can compile a whole list) but I stayed committed because I had spent so much money on Roku already but I’m about ready to throw all the cameras away and find another company. And FYI if you’re a Roku employee reading this, don’t even respond if it’s just a useless automated message. Do better.
