Indeed, you need to use your main account, where your subscription is registered to in order to utilize the devices you mentioned. But having sub-accounts for your children to manage or control their own Roku lights without meddling with the primary Settings is truly an ideal feature. No worries, we will definitely take note of this and raise it with the team.
