Watching over-the-air or DVD player using Streambar SE

Shouldn’t the streambar se function as a soundbar, so i can use it for sound while watching over the air tv or watching a dvd, when the streambar is plugged into the hdmi arc port, and the tv optical out is also connected to the streambar?

  • Hey, Nick10705.

    That's a great question!

Yes, you can use the Roku Streambar SE as a soundbar while watching over-the-air channels or DVDs. When the Roku Streambar SE is connected to your TV via HDMI ARC, the audio from over-the-air broadcasts or DVDs channels is routed through the HDMI ARC to the Streambar SE, allowing it to function as a soundbar. If your TV does not support HDMI ARC, you can utilize the optical connection as an alternative. Please note that you can use either HDMI ARC or optical input, but not both simultaneously.

    Hope that clarifies everything!

Thanks, I’ll give that a try, I currently have both ARC and the optical connection going   I’ll try it without the ARC first, I think  thanks!

I couldn’t get it to work on ARC , but it seems to work on the ‘optical out’ when I set the ‘speaker out’ option for ‘ TV AND OPTICAL’.
Next quest, get the roku remote to turn on the tv and change it to the roku input!
