Youtube chat no longer working on tv

Youtube chat is no longer working when watching a livestream with a live chat. I have deleted and reinstalled youtube app. When that didn't work I reset the tv's factory setting and logged back into a youtube video....still no chat. I checked for software updates on tv system and youtube app, and it says up to date. I have restarted router. Nothing seems to work. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

    Just a heads up, the YouTube chat feature isn't available on TVs or streaming devices like Roku. We recommend reaching out to the channel provider for more help since many channels on Roku are managed by them.

    I am having the same problem with my ROKU using the YouTube app.  Just noticed it today.  The option for the live chat does not even appear any longer.  I also subscribe to YouTube Premium and I couldn't find any settings in there to turn it off or on using a ROKU device.  It works on my iPhone/iPad.  I have 4 ROKU devices from 2018--2021.  None of them work, 3 of them are Ultras and the other is the cheapest one they sell.  Also, noticed my Samsung smart TV has the YouTube app and it doesn't work either.  My computer using Chrome browser works just fine.  Something about these YouTube apps is causing a problem???  Does anyone have any ideas?  Anyone know how how to let ROKU knows there's a problem?

      Got up this morning and my chat is back on.  I didn't do anything to make it work.  So many things are out of my control.  I feel like I'm just along for the ride.  At least the streaming never stopped. 🙂

      Same! My YouTube live chat works fine on my phone but not on my Roku. Even uninstalled and reinstalled and no difference. What’s going on Roku?!?

    I had the same issue today…This worked:

    I uninstalled the YouTube app, unplugged Roku, plugged Roku back in, reinstalled YouTube app. Chat option is back!

      I unplugged Roku device and then plugged it back in then logged into YouTube and the chat was back again. Mainly because I didn't want to go through the sign in verification process tonight.

    I’m having the same issue. I noticed that it happened after the last update. I’ve gone through all the trouble shooting steps that I can think of and the option just isn’t there anymore. I noticed after the update, a little box with a waving hand showed up at the bottom right corner of the screen saying tap here to join live chat. But there was no way to actually click on it. I haven’t seen that pop up box again since.

      That would be Youtube tech support that would need to fix issues with their app. You might want to reach out to them.  You could try restarting your Roku or unplugging power for 30 seconds and see if that helps.

    Roku actually removed the chat for 2 days due to a disagreement with the parent company of youtube, Google. I see it is back today though!

      I wonder if people contact Google play every time there is an issue with the apps in the google store.?

        I can say this was not a Roku issue.  My current smart TV does not have Roku, and I also did not have live chat showing up.  I found this thread by searching the issue on the web, and this is the first thread that I found talking about it.
