Roku Ultra - Continuous High Pitched Noise

I have same issue with my roku ultra.  It is very jarring and annoying when it happens.

  • Hello! Pycbragg,

A heartfelt welcome from the Roku Community!

We appreciate you reaching out to us about your Roku Ultra. We're pleased to assist.

    • Have you tried connecting your Roku Ultra with a different TV?

A system restart is the least invasive reset method. Use the instructions below to perform a system restart from the Settings menu.

    1. Press Home  on your Roku remote
    2. Scroll and select Settings
    3. Select System
    4. Select Power. If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step.
    5. Select System restart

In either case, your Roku device will complete a system restart and hopefully return to normal operation after a moment.

Please keep us posted on what you find out, and we will be happy to continue assisting you further. We look forward to hearing back from you.

    Thanks,
    Arjiemar

  • Hi JohnDelaney,

A warm welcome to the Roku Community!

We apologize for hearing about your experience with your Roku device and appreciate the steps you took to resolve the issue.

We are more than happy to look into this further, but we need additional information:

    • Is this happening on all content or channels, or is this isolated to one content or channel?
    • Are you encountering error codes or messages on the screen while playing content?
    • What software version is your Roku Ultra running? (You can check this on Settings > System > About)

However, if you are experiencing audio issues with your Roku Ultra across all channels, here are a few things you can try:

    • Check Audio Settings: Check the audio settings on your Roku Ultra to make sure they are set up correctly. You can do this by going to Settings > Audio. Ensure that the audio output is set to your desired device (TV, soundbar, etc.) and that the audio mode is set to "Auto" or the recommended audio format for your setup.
    • Check Device Connection: If you are using an external audio device, such as a soundbar or receiver, make sure it is properly connected to your Roku Ultra. Check all cables and ensure they are securely plugged in. Try swapping out cables or testing with another audio device to isolate the issue.
    • Restart Roku Ultra: Restarting your Roku Ultra may resolve any audio issues you are experiencing. You can do this by going to Settings > System > System Restart.
    • Check Channel-Specific Audio Settings: Some channels may have their own audio settings that could be affecting the audio output on your Roku Ultra. Check the audio settings within each channel to ensure they are configured correctly.
    • Check for Software Updates: Ensure that your Roku Ultra is running the latest software updates. You can check for updates by going to Settings > System > System update.

Please keep us posted regarding the behavior you are experiencing, and we'll continue assisting you from there.

    All the best,
    Chel

    Hi Pycbragg,

    Greetings from the Roku Community!

We'd love to further investigate this issue that you're having with the Roku Ultra. Can you please provide the following information below?

    • Do you have any other device(s) connected to your TV? (e.g., speakers and another sound system)
    • When did you first notice the issue?

    Thanks,                                                                                                                                                John

It does not happen often but it has happened maybe once a month over the last 4 months.  I have 4 roku devices.  This one is the only ultra and it is the only one that makes this noise.  The other roku devices are hooked up to tvs that have other things hooked up to it but this one (the ultra) does not.

Since last week happens every day and we are getting tired to do a system reset everyday. No sound device attached.
