I have a Roku Ultra, and recently removed two apps/channels I don't need anymore. A "Live TV" tile then appeared in it's place and I cannot remove it. Specifically, I can use "*" to get the option to remove it, but then it appears to re-install itself. I've seen a couple of articles within the community that appeared to work for other folks, but simply "removing it" isn't working and I don't see a menu option.As I was typing this, I did manage to remove it (color me surprised), but upon restarting the Roku device, it came back. Would love to find a way to get this removed permanently.Also, this appears to be some kind of new app (I'm guessing), if I disable all updates on the Roku will things like this stop spontaneously appearing?

Notice the bottom of the tile above it? This is on the right hand side, amongst all the other tiles, not separate. I want this gone. Sounds like others want it as well. It will serve no use with me. When pressed, it goes to the Roku Channel, like the Purple one does. I loaded and uninstalled the purple one, which did not get rid of the white-outlined and transparent one above. The title on the upper left is "Live TV Tile". This matches Simon's picture on Dropbox. Showed up a week ago or so.

Yes, we both have tried the same exact steps, with the same exact results. And you are welcome for the info I gave too. It is odd that nobody from Roku had been in on this conversation. We gave enough info for them to say that they can check this out or if this is indeed a new feature being rolled out or tested. I quit Motorola for this exact same reason..... I will never get another Moto anything. I'm leaning that way with Roku. This is another slap in the face, from all the past slaps in the face we customers have been given.... loss of private channels, adult channels, wireless (Wifi only) connections on soundbars, YT TV cancelled for a while over arguments, along with this. And they just welcomed new mods on here. Hmmmmm!

For anyone who may be interested in this issue, I contacted Roku Support via chat and a gentleman reviewed this thread, took some additional information, and checked with some of his colleagues. The response was that it's a known issue and Roku is actively working to address it. There's currently no timeline for a resolution, but at least the issue is known and is being investigated.

    The unfortunate thing is that it is on the "account" side, as I have found all 3 of my devices have this. Nothing in the account shows any steps to remove this bothersome button. That makes it a Roku problem, not the consumer's problem. Ye, they blame all of us and want documentation of who we are and what steps we took. Then won't bother fixing this, telling us to hold on and it is a known problem..... DUH!
    
    ..... Oh wait, This is Roku. Better not help, as the stock price may go UP!!!!!!

I did a factory reset on my Roku Streaming Stick+ 3810RW and it still came back.

    I wouldn't have thought it possible for a new feature to suddenly appear without a corresponding software update, but it seems this is what happened.
    Also, to address part of your last comment, I did go to "Settings" > "Home Screen" and set the "Live TV" shortcut to "Hide." All this does is hide the menu option on the left side of the Home screen.
    When "Live TV" is set to "Show," my Home screen menu options are:
    Home
    Live TV
    Search
    Streaming Store
    Settings
    When "Live TV" is set to "Hide," my Home screen menu options are:
    Home
    Search
    Streaming Store
    Settings
    This latter list is the state of my current Home screen, as shown in image IMG_1493.JPG. While this setting does alter the available menu options, it does not affect the "Live TV" shortcut tile.
    At this point, short of a Roku engineer telling us otherwise, I guess there's nothing that can be done. So, I'm just going to assume that the unwanted shortcut will remain.

The "LiveTV on the Roku Channel" tile icon is basically a shortcut so users do not have to launch the Roku Channel first in order to get to the LiveTV. Of course, with the Home Screen menu on the left side, the "LiveTV" menu item (if enabled to show on Home Screen) will perform a similar function.
This tile icon has been around since OS10 or 11, I believe. I have had it on my devices for awhile.
If using the * button is not working for you to permanently remove this icon, then try performing a Search from the Home Screen for "Roku". Locate the "LiveTV on the Roku Channel" tile icon from the Search Results, and select "Remove" from this menu.
Then try performing a System Restart and see if it returns.

I just removed mine with the * button and it stayed removed after a System Restart. Same build as you mentioned on an Ultra 4660x.

There is no "Live TV" or" Live TV Tile" in the search. No result. Not sure what good taking that step would do, when there is no such animal.

BTW, It's version 8.4, Build 31 that cannot be removed.

  When performing a Search for "Roku", you should see the "LiveTV on the Roku Channel" available in the Results under the Channels category. (image provided below). This is the LiveTV on the Roku Channel tile icon for the Home Screen on Roku devices, version 6.5 build 5.

  I have the same OS build referenced by others in this thread on an Ultra 4660 and am not seeing another LiveTV shortcut version 8.4, build 31. This may be another case of Roku testing out features on select users' devices. (could also explain why it cannot be removed).

I understand that you're facing an issue with a "Live TV" tile appearing on your Roku Ultra after removing two unwanted apps/channels. Although you were initially able to remove it using the "*" option, it keeps re-installing itself after restarting the Roku device. To permanently remove it, I recommend trying the following steps:
Navigate to the Roku home screen.
Highlight the "Live TV" tile.
Press the "*" button on your remote to bring up the options menu.
Select the "Remove channel" option and confirm the removal.
If the issue persists even after removing the channel, disabling updates on your Roku device may prevent similar spontaneous appearances. To disable updates, follow these steps:
Go to the Roku home screen.
Scroll to the left and select "Settings."
Choose "System" and then "System update."
Select "Disable automatic updates."

  All of the steps from the 2 'level 1' users have been done without success on removing the tile. If one reads the original posting, you will notice this fact. While I appreciate the attempts to help, one must remind others that they will not be of help repeating the exact steps that were done. Such steps include using "*" button to remove, factory resetting, and unplugging the device for 5 minutes, checking the SD card, etc.
  
  I also must remind the readers that this appears to be "on my account," as this same tile is on all of my devices, which now makes 3 of them now.
  
  This is the exact reason hearing from Roku is more important than ever. But remember... Roku welcomed new moderators a few weeks ago, but have not been assisting in a decent manner to these threads on this exact issue. I must point out that users who post issues, make documentation visible to others, who can avoid this company's Nasdaq stock or avoid the purchase of future products, affecting said stock prices.

  I have the same issue on my Express 4K+. None of the solutions here work anymore as of version 12.5.5 - build 4174-e4. They have disabled the "*" to access the channel options (INCLUDING being able to move it to the bottom of your channel list), and it is no longer able to be removed from within settings either. Also the "Don't Auto Install Updates" option in settings > Software Update has been removed. All that is there now is "Check now."
  In short, none of the solutions here are available as of 29 Jan 2024
