Re: ESPN 'Media Not Allowed', authentication issue

tryign to watch the u pf a game

  • The ESPN app provides access to both "regular" ESPN content, and subscription-only ESPN+ content.

For "regular" ESPN content your must authenticate that you have a "tv provider" account, such as a paid cable/satellite/etc subscription, that carries ESPN.  This is how ESPN gets paid for the service.

For ESPN+ content, you must have, and be logged into, a paid ESPN+ subscription. ESPN+ content is marked as such on the selection tile for each offering.

    Hi RichieMiles

Thanks for reaching out here in Roku Community.

To clarify, you are receiving an error message when streaming only on the ESPN channel? If that is the case, please be advised that channel logins or authentication are handled directly by the channel developer. We suggest reaching out to ESPN support to report the issue and for further help. They can resolve the error you are having with channel authentication.

You can reach them here: ESPN Support

Hope you find this message useful. Let us know if you have other concerns and we're happy to follow up.

    Regards,
    Nimfa
