    The ESPN app provides access to both "regular" ESPN content, and subscription-only ESPN+ content. 

    For "regular" ESPN content your must authenticate that you have a "tv provider" account, such as a paid cable/satellite/etc subscription, that carries ESPN.  This is how ESPN gets paid for the service.

    For ESPN+ content, you must have, and be logged into, a paid ESPN+ subscription. ESPN+ content is marked as such on the selection tile for each offering.
