Someone else was having a problem with Photo Streams, so I installed it and tried it out. I was able to upload the pictures from my computer and they display on my Roku without a problem. I never tried making a connection from my phone using the QR code. I just went to the web page and did all the configuration from there.
My experience duplicates that of atc98092. I've never tried to use the QR code but have used the Photo Stream web page to upload my photos and they are shown with no problems.
