Paramount plus not working on my Roku

Paramount works on my tablet, but stopped working on my Roku. Tried all of the troubleshooting steps and still will not play any content.

  • I receive the error “Error. Unfortunately, an error occurred during playback. Please try again.” when trying to play Paramount Plus shows. This also leads to strange problems with other apps. The route to get there is complex. Here are the steps and the results:

    Have 9.99 level subscription
    Remove Paramount Plus channel from Roku
    Reboot router
    Reboot Roku
    go to roku home and add Paramount Plus channel
    test Netflix (walking dead) plays correctly
    test prime video (jurrassic world) plays correctly
    test roku channel(martha gardens s1ep 4) plays correctly
    test paramount plus (picard - resume) plays correctly
    test paramount plus (movie Devotion) FAIL with error “Error. Unfortunately, an error occurred during playback. Please try again.”
    retest paramount plus (Picard - resume) FAIL with error “Error. Unfortunately, an error occurred during playback. Please try again.”
    Retest roku channel (martha gardens s1 ep 4) FAIL with error "Cannot Access Program The world of succulents is not available or has expired OK"
    Retest Prime Video (Jurassic world) FAIL - get captions but no audio or video
    Retest Netflix (walking dead) FAIL audio and captions but no video - fast forward and then get error tvq-pb-101 (5.2.12) "We're having trouble playing this video right now"

    The above sequence happens on both of my devices - both are updated - model 3930x roku express, serial x0040077rsog, device id s00830447rsog

    This appears to be a problem with paramount plus. I cannot delete this subscription because it says I have access until 2/12/23 even after i cancel the subscription. I wish I could completely delete my paramount plus account and start over.

      After posting this I found that the only solution is to change my subscription to the $14.99/mo level - premium with showtime. I changed back and forth among the various subscription packages and this is the only one that works on my roku express.

      I can get the sound. The picture shows briefly and then the screen goes black. I’ve unplugged and re plugged in everything.

      I restarted the device several times, disconnected the power and reset. Signed out of Paramount, uninstalled the app, reset the Roku then reinstalled Paramount and signed back in, still the same issues. Click play on any video, starts, then says error during playback.

      Using a Roku express. Paramount was working since I installed it 3 months ago, but stopped working this morning. I tried all of the troubleshooting steps.

        I have two at my office, they are both doing the same thing. What's the chances of that? Its apparently a playback issue and it's even happening on Netflix. I can watch on my phone or computer but the Roku's are having problems. I believe Roku needs to get to the bottom of the issue and get it fixed asap. We as consumers spend a lot of money to be able to stream and shouldn't have to be getting the run a round through Roku

      It’s not just Paramount. I can’t get Netflix, Peacock or Hulu to play on my Express either

    I’m having same issue with all my channels, not just paramount.  It seems to be a roku issue. I can’t get any support from roku

      Yes, I'm having the same issues..... Paramount +, Peacock, Disney + are not working thru Roku, but can be seen on computer. Have rebooted everything !  PANDORA is the only app working on my ROKU !!!!

      How do we fin out if there is a Roku issue ?? phone and website are NO HELP !!!!!!!

        I’ve messaged Roku on every social media platform but no response. The support link shoes my devices aren’t eligible for technical support.  This is obviously a roku issue.  

  • This is ridiculous. 

    Paramount+ works on my laptop, but not my Roku.

    All I want to do is watch my show while I eat supper.

    This is a problem with all channels on the Roku Express. My stick works fine but my 2 Express stopped yesterday. They can’t find the reason. We’ve done every reset imaginable and even uninstalled and reinstalled the apps. Nothing works. This is terrible by Roku! Seems to be an issue with the latest software update. I hope they send one to fix it
