NFL App won't load and crashes back to home screen

The NFL App crashes seconds after I attempt to load it. The NFL wheel spins for a few seconds, the normal menus appear for a second or two on the left side and then it goes back to the home screen. It ran fine 3 days ago.  I have restarted the Roku streaming stick, restarted my LG TV (where other apps run fine), removed and reloaded the NFL app. It runs fine on the browser on my laptop.

  • I have had NFL+ for a couple of months. No problems. Starting yesterday, NFL+ simply won’t load on Roku portal on my TVs.  Please help!! It doesn’t even get to a login screen. It simply looks like it’s loading, and then reverts back to the Roku App selection page.

    Can you help me?

  • Having the same problem again. I had this problem back a month ago but but it strated working again the next day. I've Rebooted the device. I've verified no updates are needed. I've logged into NFL app on mt PC and logged back out. I unplugged for debic efor 10 minutes. I've waited 24 hours since problem has started and repeated the above procedures. Still it acts like it is going to the NFL app for a few seconds while spinning and then kicks back out to the Roku home screen. I even rebooted my entire network. Also checked all 3 Roku Ultra devices to find none of them will go into the NFL app.

I have not checked all my devices, but I am happy to report that my nfl app seems to operating now.

As you can see in the comments the problem has returned.  The solution offered previously does not work.

  • My nfl app updated on 11/20 and won’t load on any of my Roku devices. Restarting doesn’t help. Don’t have the option to delete and reload the app.

As per my previous post I had already performed all the recommended procedures to no avail. I rebooted my modem and Eero network router twice to find the NFL network still would not open on my 3 Roku Ultra devices. I was using the ethernet hard wire connection. I decided to change my Roku network to use my WiFi connection. I 1st went into my Eero network into the troubleshooting area and disabled for the 5GHz WiFi for 10 minutes. This forces all devices to connect through the 2.4GHz WiFi channel. For those of us that do not know, the Eero networks only show 1 SID and automatically tries to connect all devices being set-up to 6GHz, then 5GHz and then last to 2.4GHz. Anyway, I then setup RoKu to use WiFi for the connection.  I did not unplug my ethernet from the RoKu device. To my amazement my NFL network now works. Probably just a coincidence that it started working again. But figured I’d report it anyhow.

I am happy to say that I’m back online!  Received a private message with the following instructions:

”… Please perform a software update by going to Settings > System > Software Update > Check Now. If there is a new version available, please download it. After the update, try launching the app again to see if the issue has been fixed.”  The solution solved the problem.

  • My NFL app will not load. It tries then goes back to the roku menu with other channels. I saw in the community discussion that a fix had been found but mine is still not working. Also, one of the suggestions was to remove the app and reinstall. I can't locate the remove app when I press the * button.

It didn't help. But if you want. to do it, you have to remove the app using the mobile app.

it is ridiculous they tried to tell me it was an issue on my end I said no its not.

  • Select NFL app and it crashes back to Home Screen after a few seconds trying to open.

Same problem as last week!  It appeared to be fixed a few days ago and now it is failing again.

Suggestion: If you have a Smart TV then download the NFL app to it and watch it there rather than on Roku (where it doesn't work).

  • 😪The nfl app wont load.  We have the Roku express.

The first thing to try is a "System restart" from Settings->System or Settings->System->Power.
