Netflix plays the last episode in S1 instead of E1 on Roku

My wife and I wanted to start  a new show, so we did a Roku voice search and found the show we wanted which is on Netflix. Roku appropriately opened Netflix app, I had to enter my profile lock passcode and then the show began. Unfortunately, we landed up watching the last episode instead of the first.  This is a repeatable bug. I tried it on many different shows.  With shows that have multiple seasons, the last episode of the first season will play.

Out of all the streamers I have, it only happens on Netflix.

    HeyStreamingHammer,

Thanks for bringing up this issue here!

It seems there is an issue with your Netflix app. Please follow these steps below:

    1. Restart your streaming device: Home > System > Power (If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step) > System restart.
    2. To update the channel, open the Netflix app, press the star button on your remote, and select "Check for updates."
    3. Remove and re-add the channel

Thanks for the reply.  I went through all 3 steps.

Tried it multiple times and the problem still exists.

      Any other advice?

Thanks for keeping us updated! StreamingHammer,

It seems the problem is with the app alone. To help you further troubleshoot this, it is best to contact the Netflix support team. You can start here!

        I hope this helps!

  • FYI, I tested it on my older Roku 3, (original issue was on 4k stick), and the issue is there as well. The Netflix apps are different versions, version 70.2316 (stick) vs Version 4.2 (Roku 3)

I contacted Netflix and made them aware, but they don't believe the issue is on their end.

Anyway, it makes the Roku generalized search for Netflix shows a major issue.

      Thanks for the update, StreamingHammer

We understand that this does not seem like an app issue, specifically with Netflix. Please take note that most apps on Roku are managed directly by their respective app providers. This includes the interface of their app, content access, and app availability.

      I hope for your understanding.

      Thanks,
